Sunday Afternoon's

I don't know about you but I love Sunday afternoons especially in the Autumn/Winter months. It's cold outside, the central heating is blaring, I've got a hot chocolate steaming out of my favourite Snoopy mug, a minced pie ready to get eaten and the traditional Sunday feel-good family film is on (in this case, I'm watching Dolphin Tale).

How do you spend your Sunday afternoons?

NOTW: Purpley-Plum

Purpley-plum colours are so in this season! I have many shades of purple in my nail varnish collection but most of them are really dark, which can annoy me because they are so dark that sometimes you can't even tell it's purple. But whilst hunting through my collection I found this gem! My aunt gave me this nail varnish a while back and I never got round to using it. I'm pretty sure this brand is for professional use so I'm not sure if you can get it down at your local high street. The varnish itself was a bit gloopy (it's very old) so I could only manage the one coat so I am most definitely on the hunt for a high street dupe!

If you have the perfect purple, let me know in the comments below!

Product I Regret Buying #2 ...

After bleaching my hair about a million times all my natural shine had disappeared. My hair looked so dull and all I wanted was a bit of shine. A friend of mine has the same problem so she bought Phil Smith Mirror Shine Spray. She said she liked it but found that the spray gave her headaches after using it so she gave it to me to test out. Thankfully after using it I didn't suffer with any headaches but it left my hair looking really greasy! There was no shine, just a wet clumpy look which I really didn't want. I haven't tried many shine sprays so I'm not sure what they're meant to look like but I really didn't like this one. I've also never tried anything by Phil Smith so I wouldn't write the entire brand off.

Have you tried any Shine Sprays? What do you think?

NOTW: Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Watermelon

I am loving this new Barry M Hi-Shine Nail Paint in Watermelon. This teal colour is great for this time of year. The varnish is super shiny which is great so there is no need for a top coat.

What do you think of Barry M's new Hi-Shine collection?

Mags of the Month

(L-R) InStyle £2.50, Look £1.80, Cosmopolitan £3.50

InStyle is a magazine that I've never bought before and I have to admit that I don't think I'll be buying it again. To me, it comes across as a very high fashion magazine and even though this issue is marked as the 'high street issue' I struggled to find any items or products from my local high street. Also, the magazine was quite boring, there was hardly any bright colours to draw me in and the writing wasn't great. So you may ask why I bought this mag, and I have 2 reasons:
  1. My boyfriend bought it to keep me occupied whilst he watched the football.
  2. It came with a sample size Benefit Sun Beam. (Also available was ChaCha Tint and Benetint).

Next up is Cosmopolitan or Cosmo. I'm really in love with this magazine and even though the price is the highest of the 3 magazines in this post, it's by far my favourite. It has a great mix of high street fashion and high fashion. Also its contains great things about beauty which of course I love. Some may ask if Cosmo justifies the price and I say, YES! This issue came with a Missguided Lipsplash in Fashion which is a purple gloss with blue undertones. It also came with a sample size Oral-B 3D White Toothpaste. Now, I love mags that come with freebies but I love mags even more when they come with sample within the mag i.e. perfumes and foundations. Also, Cosmo is bright and fun and the writing isn't boring or long-winded.You can also get this magazine in a travel size like the one I have which is great for sticking in your bag.

Lastly is Look magazine. This is the cheapest of the 3 magazines and is a really good read. Its really colourful and fun. It's got a great mix of beauty and fashion, and celebrity without being trashy. This is a weekly mag so it keeps me entertained whilst waiting for the monthly Cosmo. It's a much thinner magazine compared to the other two but it's worth getting as it has great features and interviews. If your umm-ing and arr-ing about what items of clothing to get for these colder months, I would recommend Look because it's all about high street fashion and is always spot on the trends of the season. Sadly, this issue didn't come with a freebie but for the price, I didn't expect one.

My Lipsticks of the Moment

Now that we're deep into the Autumn months I think it's time to show off my Autumn lippies! I don't usually wear a lot of lipstick but I have been loving the trends recently so I had to purchase a few items to satisfy my craving.
First up I have this Collection lipstick from the Volume Sensation range in the shade Tea Rose. This is a really great nude colour for this season. The colour is understated but is a really beautiful colour if you don't fancy anything to dark. I think a colour like this would be good for something professional like a job interview or a business meeting. Thankfully, this lipstick isn't drying and is full of moisture. It's not a long lasting lipstick so regular reapplication is necessary. Personally I don't think it increases the volume of my lips or plumps them up, luckily that wasn't the reason I bought it.

Next up I have a lipstick from Barry M's new Ultra Moisturising Lip Paints in Viscious Violet. I've read a lot of reviews about Barry M's regular lip paints being really drying and it appears that Barry M read them too because they've come out with this new range that contains Cocoa Butter 'for a soft and saturated finish'. Dark purples are so in trend this Autumn and this is a great shade. Plus, with the cocoa butter it helps prevent chapped lips.

Next up I have my favourite lipstick of the season! This beautiful shade by Sleek in Cherry is my go to shade for a great evening lippy. This deep cherry colour is really on trend and looks amazing against the khaki's and beige's that are all over the place this Autumn. Lipsticks this dark can be difficult to apply so I recommend lip liner and blotting for the best finish. Also, Sleek is a relatively new make up brand to me but I would really recommend people to check them out. They have a beautiful range of colours and creations.

I hope you've enjoyed my favourite lippies of the moment. I would love to know what your favourites are. Comment or Tweet me @JennaDoesBeauty.

What's On My Toes?

Frankly, I don't expect you to actually be asking the above question but I haven't done a NOTW this week and I thought it would be fun to try something new. Now, if your one of the crazy people that are scared of feet, I would read no more and look away!

On my toes nails I have Accessorize's Mink nail varnish, which you might have seen on my most recent haul post. Over the top of the Mink I have Barry M's Hologram Hexograms which is a beautiful glitter varnish that looks great on fingers and toes!

What do you have on your toes?

Autumn Tag!

I don't know about you but I cant believe its October already! This of course means we are now well into the autumn months and I thought it would be a great idea to do an Autumn Tag and I tag all of YOU to do it too. Here we go ...

1. Its finally autumn, what are you most looking forward to this season?
I am most looking forward to the fashion! A/W fashion is by far my favourite of the entire year. I love all the woolly jumpers, scarfs, boots and all the autumn colours. Autumn to me always means the build up to Christmas, and who doesn't love Christmas.

2. What Autumn item in your wardrobe are you most excited to pull out?
I am so excited about digging so many things out of my wardrobe! My boots, slouchy cardies, jumpers and fluffy socks!

3. Since Halloween is the first holiday to celebrate, what is your favourite scary film to watch?
I LOVE scary films, sadly my boyfriend doesn't, so I don't get to see as many as I'd like. I love thrillers with serial killers and cops like 'Se7en' but my all time favourite scary movies have to be ghost films. I think I love them so much because I believe in ghosts and I love it when the film makes me jump. I must say, 'Paramormal Activity' was a delight to watch. Yes, I'm weird like that!

4. What is your favourite Autumn treat?
My favourite Autumn treat has to be hot chocolates! The weather gets colder and all I want to do is snuggle up on the sofa or with the boyfriend under a blanket and cling onto a warm mug of hot chocolate and a mince pie! (Getting a lovely image in my head right now).

5. Now that summer is finally over, what will you miss about it?
Well, I was going to say the sun, but I didn't see much of that over the summer.  But I will miss people being in a much happier mood when the sun does decide to pop out from behind the clouds. I will also miss all the bright coloured nail varnishes that come out in the summer.

6. What make-up/beauty products do you love for Autumn?
My favourite beauty trend for the Autumn is the dark plum lip. You might have seen Cheryl Cole showing off the deep plum lip at the judges houses part of The X Factor. I've recently bought a few different shades of plum to make sure I get the right shade. My only piece of advice is, don't be too scared of dark colours! They are so in this season and I guarantee it'll look great once it's on.

7. What have you recently bought in preparation for the up and coming season?
Well, like I said above I've bought a couple of new lippies in preparation for this season. But I've also bought winter pj's and some think jumpers!

8. Have you ever been trick'or'treating?
Yes, who hasn't!

9. Name the first 5 things that come to your head when you think of Autumn.
Fallen leaves
Hot Chocolate
Halloween
Woolly socks
The sky getting dark earlier

10. What is your favourite season and why?
I do really love autumn but I love spring too! It must be something to do with the in between seasons.

If you end up doing this tag, I would love it if you sent me a link to your post either in the comments or on twitter @JennaDoesBeauty :)

September Favourites

Welcome to my September Favourites!

CK One Shock For Her - This travel safe perfume has made it into my September favourites this month because it smells delicious and it fits perfectly into my bag and I don't have to worry about carrying a heavy glass bottle. If you ask me, it's a great invention!
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel - I got this moisturiser as part of a set along with a cleanser and toner. I don't use the cleanser or toner much but I love this moisturiser as its not too thick and is quite refreshing. It's also really good for oily t-zones.
Barry M Base Coat, Top Coat and Nail Hardener - I get through base and top coats like nobodies business and even though its really annoying, it means that I get to try lots of different ones. As you may know, I am truly in love with Barry M so I thought I'd give this polish a go. Its great because its quick drying and really helps harden my nails!
Natural Collection Lipstick in Pink Mallow - I loved this lipstick last month. Its a really natural pink and really moisturising!
Umberto Giannini Intense Beauty Conditioner - Last month I managed to run out of all my conditioners all at once and was left with this Umberto Giannini Conditioner that I got in a pack for my birthday. I was surprisingly happy with the results and even though it's a very small bottle it lasted me until I got my new conditioner.
River Island Rose Gold Heart Ring - I have been wearing this ring a lot last month and I am loving it. Its quite small and simple but that's what I love about it.
Bourjois Paris Eyeshadow in 08 - Another favourite is this beautiful eyeshadow which I use as a highlighter. Its a beautiful colour and I am loving it.
New Look Studded Dolly Shoes - I have been wearing these shoes a lot this month. I haven't had them for very long but I tried to make the most of them whilst the weather was relatively warm.
I hope you've enjoyed my first Month Favourites. I would love to see yours so leave a link to you post so I can check it out!

NOTW: Hot Pink

Loving this hot pink polish by No7! Application is easy and the colour is amazing! The weather has been so grim recently, and this polish has cheered me up and reminded me of all the great times I had in the summer.

A Quick Update

First of all, I have to say sorry to all my followers for being a bit absent this week. I recently got a new job and have been really busy with training and haven't had a minute to spare to take pictures or write posts. But thankfully my training is over so expect lots more posts including reviews, wishlists and NOTW's.

Secondly, as you may have noticed my blog hasn't been around for very long but I am loving every second of it. I want to say thank you to all my followers and my viewers for making this experience one that I don't ever want to stop. I really appreciate all the comments and recommendations that you've given. I really look forward to looking at my blog in a years time with all the friends I've made through the amazing beauty and fashion blogger community.

Lots of love,
Jenna

My 10 Second Exfoliator ...

When I'm feeling lazy, the last thing I want to do is exfoliate my face, but sometimes my skin really needs it so I head straight for my Simple Exfoliating Wipes. You might have noticed that recently I did a post raving about the Simple Cleansing Wipes so expect the same from this one! Funnily enough, this wipes are quite similar to the cleansing wipes apart from a very obvious difference that these wipes contain.

The wipes have thousands of tiny bumps that help scrub away any dead skin which helps leave my skin feeling lovely and smooth. Just like all the other Simple products, these wipes contain NO alcohol, NO oils, NO perfumes and NO colourings so my skin isn't left feeling tight or sore. And the great thing about using exfoliating wipes is that you don't have to sponge off every single tiny exfoliating bead that you usually get with normal lotion exfoliators, so these wipes literally take 10 seconds to use!

I would really recommend Simple products to anyone with sensitive skin because they are truly amazing!
