My Everyday Makeup

On an everyday basis, I don't like wearing too much makeup. This collection might look like quite a lot but it's a very natural look. I can suffer with quite problematic skin so tend to spend a little more time on my base. I keep my eye makeup very simple with a little mascara and eye liner. My lips again, are kept very simple with a slightly tinted lip balm to keep my lips smooth and soft.

Before applying any makeup, I apply my Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel which came as part of a trio with a cleanser and toner. It applies beautifully and allows my makeup to glide on effortlessly. Next, I apply my Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer (review here) and my Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat (reviewed here).

Next I apply my foundation which is L'Oreal Infallible Lasting Perfecting Foundation in the shade Porcelain and I apply this with my Real Techniques foundation brush. Next I fill in my eyebrows with Sleek MakeUP's Brow Kit. I then set my base with Rimmel London Clear Complexion Powder and apply my bronzer to my contours using an angled brush. I then apply my new favourite blush, Sleek MakeUP blusher in Rose gold (reviewed here) with my Real Techniques blush brush.

Next, I apply my Urban Decay Big Fatty Mascara which is my favourite mascara at the moment. I sweep this across my upper and lower lashes for length and volume. I then apply my Barry M Super Soft Eye Crayon to the outer third of my waterline. Next, I apply Benefits Sun Beam to my cheek and brow bones. I then apply Nivea Soft Rose Lip balm (reviewed here) and away I go.

The Chapped Lips Rescue Team

After writing a post yesterday about Pearl Drops Hollywood Smile I noticed in some of the pictures I took just how chapped my lips were. This inspired me to look through my beauty collection and hunt down a chapped lip rescue team!

Vaseline Lip Therapy Chapstick with Cocoa Butter
This super nourishing stick is great for banishing chapped lips. Containing Cocoa butter and Shea butter means it helps soften lips from first application. I don't have to apply much to my lips for the Vaseline to do it's job. It feels quite thin on my lips and feels really rich. The chapstick smells amazing which I put down to the cocoa butter. This chapstick is great as it means you don't have to delve into a tin with your finger to apply. The stick itself is white so can make your lips look a little pale and it doesn't taste very nice as it leaves a weird after taste in my throat.

Vaseline Lip Therapy Original Tin
This old school Vasaline tin is the original super hero when it comes to solving pesky dry lips. If you have never tried it, then where have you been?! I tend to use this Vasaline product more in the evening and wear it to bed as I always manage to get it all around my face. It doesn't really have a scent and doesn't leave a awful after taste in the back of my throat which is why I like it so much. It applies to my lips really easily and I don't have to use much to cover my lips.

Nivea Soft Rose Lip Balm
This lip balm is my favourite of the four to wear out. The pink balm gives my lips a hint of rose pink and helps keep them nourished and smooth. It smells a little bit like play dough but that doesn't bother me. The packaging is really pretty which is another reason why I like it so much. I wouldn't say this is the balm to grab for when your lips are really chapped as the colour can stick to the chapped parts of your lips leaving them looking a bit patchy but this lip balm is great to help maintain soft lips.

Body Shop Born Lippy in Watermelon
This is the nicest smelling lip balm of the four. It smells just like watermelon and it definitely smells good enough to eat. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend eating it because as soon as I apply it my lips, I get that horrible after taste in the back of my throat. It's definitely the worst tasting. The packaging of this balm is really cute and I love it's name as it gives it a bit of attitude. It isn't the easiest to apply because the pot is quite small which means I get it all up my nail which I hate. It's quite hard as well so you have to apply more than usual to cover your lips. This isn't the best balm for getting rid of chapped lips but like the Nivea Soft Balm it helps maintain soft lips.

Have any of you used lip scrubs? I'd love to read a review on them so link your post below :)

Bright Eyes for Winter

In my eyes, there are 2 different types of concealer. The first is the kind of concealer that you use to cover up spots and other imperfections, I use Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer to achieve my blemish free complexion. The second kind of concealer is the kind I used to brighten dark circles under my eyes and for this job, I always head towards my YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch Concealer.

I first used Touche Eclat after receiving it as a Christmas present over 2 years ago. Honestly, I didn't know a lot about this concealer other than it was quite expensive and I was slightly underwhelmed when I first opened it. When I first used it, I was unsure of what to do with it. I tried using it to cover up my spots but found that it didn't work very well, so I started using it under my eyes to banish my dark circles and I haven't looked back since. It makes my eyes looks really bright which changes the look of my whole face. The pen lasted me around 3-4 months which is quite a long time for a 2.5ml tube. Sadly, I find myself having to go without it for 8 months until I received it again this Christmas.

I use the shade 1.5 (fair complexion with golden undertones) with 7 shades to choose from. The liquid is quite thin which I like especially for under my eyes. I click the button at the end and dab the concealer on via the brush. I then blend it in with more dabbing motions but this time with my fingers. I usually apply it before my foundation but sometimes apply more afterwards. I love the packaging, it makes me feel glamorous when I take it out of my make up bag. Hopefully when this tube runs out I'll have the money to splurge to repurchase it. I would definitely recommend anyone to try out this highlighting concealer. If it's too expensive, stick it on your birthday list and cross your fingers.

Review: The Body Shop Vitamin E Range

For Christmas, I got the Vitamin E gift set from The Body Shop which is great because like me, I'm sure most of you are suffering with a little dry skin in the latter part of these winter months. I don't actually own a lot of The Body Shop's products, so when I received this gift set I immediately set out to find out the most I could about the range. I found out about Vitamin E is that it is full of antioxidants which help protect the skin from damage caused by environmental factors and other cell damaging factors like ultraviolet light which can help prevent against sun burn. It also contains anti-ageing benefits by minimising the signs of fine lines and wrinkles (It's always good to start early!). In my gift set I got the Cream Cleanser, Hydrating Toner, Moisture Cream and the Nourishing Night Cream.

Vitamin E Cream Cleanser

I have to say, I'm not totally into cleansers. I love trying them out but I tend to stick to my Simple Cleansing wipes. When I first used this cleanser I noticed that it has quite a thin, silky texture. It didn't have a strong perfumed smell which is a massive bonus for me as I hate putting too many "unnatural" things on my face. Before using the cleanser I removed the bulk of the make up on my face with  my facial wipes and to remove my eye make up. when using the cleanser I found that even a small amount of this cleanser spreads around my face really well with still enough to have a scrub for a slightly deeper cleanse. I found that it removed any left over bits of make up, dirt and oils from my face really well and it left my skin feeling clean, refreshed and silky smooth! I found that since using this cleanser on and off for 2 weeks it has helped prevent my skin for getting too dry or flaky and it leaves it looking dewy rather than oily. I really like this cream cleanser but I'm not sure if it's converted me from cleansing wipes. You can pick this Vitamin E Cream Cleanser up from The Body Shop for £8.

Vitamin E Hydrating Toner

I have a real problem with toners. I hate how most of them make my skin feel tight and dry. And it's quite difficult to find a toner with a small amount of alcohol when most of them have as much alcohol in them as a bottle of vodka! Let's be honest here, alcohol isn't good for your body so why put it on you face?! But luckily, although this toner does contain alcohol, it's a lot less than other toners I've used and thrown away. This means it doesn't leave my skin feeling tight or dry! The toner is a clear liquid that seems to be slightly thicker than water. It lays on my skin for a while but I always blot it with a tissue. This is the best toner I've used and even though I don't often use toners, it may have converted me. You can get this Vitamin E Hydrating Toner from The Body Shop for £8.

Vitamin E Moisture Cream and Nourishing Night Cream

Both these creams are advertised as being for all skin types. The Moisture Cream soaks into my skin really well keeping it hydrated all day with adding excess oils to my already oily t-zone. The Nourishing Night Cream is a little thicker that the moisture cream and sits on the skin for quite a while, which isn't a feeling I like but I wake up in the morning with super soft and smooth skin. You can buy the Vitamin E Moisture Cream and Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream from The Body Shop for £4 each.

A Bit Of What's To Come...

L'Oreal Infallible Lasting Perfecting Foundation
If you follow me on Twitter you would have seen how excited I was about Superdrug's 3 for 2 deal on makeup and lashes. I decided to buy a new foundation as my last one was getting a little too dark and orangey for my pale, pale complexion! Expect a review soon to see what I think.

MUA Undressed Eyeshadow Palette
Finally I've managed to get my hands on MUA's Undressed Palette! I've been wanting to get this eyeshadow palette for months but found that it was out of stock everywhere I went (I don't like buying makeup online). I haven't used it yet but I'm really excited to try out all the shades.

Naturelle Aura Cherry Almond Revitalising Conditioner
It wouldn't surprise me is you've never heard of this brand because I certainly haven't. I was given this conditioner by a friend who loves the smell, and I have to say, she was right because it smells de-lish! It's also all natural ingredients and not tested on animals (my friend is really big on this). I really look forward to trying this out as I'm currently using the Aussie Conditioner.

V05 Smoothly Does It Frizz Free Cream with Heat Defence
Again, if you follow me on Twitter you would have seen my excitement about getting this as a freebie in the current Cosmopolitan magazine. I've used it a couple of times and really look forward to writing a review!

Aussie Miracle Moist Conditioner
I've heard so many good things about the Aussie haircare range from friends and fellow bloggers. I decided to get the travel size bottle so I could try it out, so I didn't have to worry about buying the full size and then hating it. Thankfully I love this product and will most definitely be buy the full size after using the Naturelle Aura Conditioner.

Simple Kind To Skin Vital Vitamin Night Cream
Now, I've done enough posts on here raving out the Simple skincare range so this won't come as a surprise to many of you when you see that I've bought their night cream. This is my first ever night cream and I am looking so forward to reviewing this product for all of you.

Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express
Mascaras are one of them things that I buy even when my latest tube is used up. I have around a million and one different mascaras and will be comparing them all in a review post some time this
month.

Simple Spotless Skin Range Review

If you follow my blog then you will know that I love the Simple range! I featured the Simple Spotless Skin Anti-Blemish moisturiser in my October Favourites and I promised a product review along with the Simple Spotless Skin Quick Fix Cleansing Wipes. I bought these products on a whim at my local Superdrug. I had some pennies to spare and I must admit, I love trying new skin care products. I bought the moisturiser because the cold air has well and truly creeped in and it's always a sensible idea to get a moisturiser for the A/W months. I decided to get the wipes because I've used the regular Simple Cleansing Wipes for years and thought that if these wipes would truly make my skin 'Spotless' then why not give them a try. They contain Zinc and Chamomile and are advertised as having 2-4 spot fighting ingredients and 1 natural antibacterial ingredient along with their usual no perfumes or colours.

The Wipes
When I first opened the Cleansing Wipes I noticed that they have quite a strong smell which surprised me because the Simple brand have always said that they use no perfumes so I just put it down to being a natural perfume from the spot fighting ingredients. Sadly, I don't think these wipes helped with my skin at all, if anything they made it worse. I know that you have to give new skin care products enough time to work, as you skin has to get used to the new ingredients in the products but I've been using these wipes for a month and I haven't seen any benefits. I don't think I would repurchase these, I'll stick my good old regular Simple wipes. On a plus, I always found that the wipes never dried out as long as I kept the lid closed fully.

The Moisturiser
Although the wipes didn't work out for me, I love this moisturiser. It hasn't got any harsh smell and leaves my skin feeling super smooth. I apply it before I got to sleep and in the morning before applying my make up. My only grievance is that it takes a while to soak into my skin in the mornings which can be time consuming when I'm in a rush. Although I love this cream, I don't think I will be repurchasing this either just because I love buying and trying new moisturisers.

Now that I've used up all my wipes I'm going to continue using the moisturiser on its own to see if it works as an anti-blemish moisturiser. I will do an update post on this moisturiser at the end of the month to let you all know.

October Favourites

Mua Heaven and Earth Eyeshadow Palette - £4
This palette from Mua has made it into my October favourites because I am just totally and completely in love with it. If you haven't heard all the hype of Mua's eyeshadow palette's then you must be living under some big, dark, heavy rock because they are all anyone in the beauty blogging scene is talking about. I originally wanted to get the Undressed palette but couldn't find it in any of my local Superdrug's, so I got the Heaven and Earth palette instead. I would really recommend Mua's products to anyone. The quality is amazing and the price is cheap cheap cheap!
Simple Spotless Skin Anti-blemish Moisturiser - £3
Usually I'm quite sceptical about buying "spot curing" products because I usually find that they don't work at all! I decided to pick up this moisturiser because I am a great lover of the Simple line and at £3 I wasn't wasting loads of money on something that might not work. I will be reviewing this product along with the Anti-blemish Cleansing Wipes soon so keep your eyes peeled.
Sleek Makeup True Colour Lipstick in Cherry - £4.99
I recently did a post called My Lipsticks of the Moment which featured this lipstick so check that out to see why it's made it into my October favourites!
Garnier Moisturising Lotion Sun-Kissed Look in Light - £5.09
I don't know about the rest of you pale girls but I am tired of standing next to my tanned friends looking like a ghost (even though it's been totally appropriate in October as its the month of Halloween). I decided to get a gradual tanner to build up a healthy tan that wasn't as drastic as a fake tan. This lotion works really well and smells delicious with extract of apricot. It doesn't leave me looking orange or streaky which is perfect.

Favourite Natural Collection Make up

Natural Collection is a brand that I don't tend to go straight to when walking into my local Boots. But as I mooch around the counters I am always enticed in by the price of their products. These super cheap cosmetics are truly under-rated because they are great!

One of my favourite products from the Natural Collection line is the Dusky Pink blusher. It's a really beautiful shade that will be great for the colder months. It is the darkest shade of the four that this brand sells but isn't too dark for fair skin like mine. I find that it gives a really natural look and is so easy to apply. This blusher also blends easily and doesn't look patchy. Also, the blusher has a screw top lid so you don't have to deal with broken hinges. All in all, its a great buy at a great price.

My other favourite is Natural Collection moisture shine lipstick in pink mallow. This is a beautiful colour that not too bright but not too sheer. The lipstick is really nourishing so there is no need to apply lip balm before using this lipstick. The pigment is great but you'll need to reapply more frequently than other lipsticks. I don't know whether that's down to the fact that its a cheaper brand or because its branded as a moisture shine. I would recommend these lipsticks to a friend, because lets be honest, with the price of these products you cant go wrong!

What do you think of cheaper brands like Natural Collection? Do you steer clear? Let me know in the comments or send me a tweet @JennaDoesBeauty :)

Products I Regret Buying ...

Buying a benefit product is rare for me because of the price tag. I bought Benefits Porefessional to minimise the appearance of the pores around my nose but after using it before applying my make up, I've found no difference in the size of my pores. I was really disappointed with this product because I've heard such great things about it. Sadly, it just does nothing for my skin.

What do you think about Porefessional?

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes Review

I have been using Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes for over 2 years now and I love them so much that I haven't purchased any other facial cleansing wipes since first using them. I use these wipes for removing make up including waterproof mascara and they've never let me down.

Previous to buying these Simple wipes I was tired of using facial wipes that burnt my skin and eyes and had a strong smell of alcohol. Simple wipes contain NO alcohol, NO oils, NO perfumes and NO colourings. So when I first used these wipes I loved how they made me skin feel clean and fresh rather than sore and tight. My only negative is that there are only 25 wipes in a packet. Not to be picky but 30 would be great (1 wipe for each day of the month, give or take).

As well as using only 1 wipe to remove all my facial make up, plus my eye make up, I am amazed that it is still capable of removing my waterproof mascara without suffering with stinging eyes. I honestly don't see myself buying any other cleansing wipes, these wipes are truly the holy grail of cleansing wipes!! LOVE THEM!
